Well last weekend Rob, Ray and Ray’s best friend Spenser went on a 3 day hiking trip to the Sierra’s. This was Rob’s first hiking trip and he said that he had a blast (so did the mosquito’s) and that he will for sure do it again! The highest elevation was 11,400 ft. and they hiked just over 20 miles in the three days.
Some of the pictures below are ones that Spenser sent over so enjoy!
Here’s the ranger with his gigantic dog..

The lazy fisher..
Look at how pretty these little guys are…

Nice pictures. I still can’t believe they hooked fish that small… and I’m not sure that Ranger has a dog… I think you might have photographic proof of a California Yeti… just saying might want to email it to someone.

Jenn, the fish are small because they live in a harsh environment. They have very short growing seasons, as many of the lakes are covered with ice until July.
Its just the nature of high-elevation fishing (though there are a few places that are exceptions to this due to the presence of certain year-round food sources, like freshwater shrimp) in the Sierras.
But, we use ultralight fly tackle, and its plenty fun (3wt rods, small dry flies, and fine tippets (3lb test))…. plus, while they may be small, we catch tons. Literally, we probably caught 2-3 HUNDRED fish combined in the 3 days, so it was tons of fun, and the fish are beautiful, not stocked trout that come out of a truck.
The dog was a Labradoodle – and yes, it looked like a yeti.
